A website’s landing page is by far the most important thing to consider when creating a new site from scratch. Today we are excited to share our current project, a website for a full-service law firm, which offers a perfect example of the elements any home page (or landing page) should have.
The most noticeable part of this design is the slogan which reads “Industry Focused, Relationship Driven.” We’ve used text in white to provide a sharp contrast from the black background, helping this slogan pop even more. By keeping it on the left we also ensure a viewer’s eye will be drawn there, as we typically read documents from left to right.
Another important feature for any home page is the use of a ‘hero’ image. The ‘hero’ is a concept that has become very popular for websites in recent years, and shows no signs of fading. All this refers to is the use of a large image that spans across the entire width of the website, above the proverbial “fold”. We’ve used a photo of a large gavel here, which is somewhat dark and provides an aesthetically pleasing balance with the slogan. Underneath, there are three boxes which highlight certain practice areas overlaying the hero image so as not to break the fluidity of the site. Directly below these is more information, stating that they are a full service law firm and have more than 10 years of experience. We’ve used a blue & green color scheme to add visual interest and help give the website a unique identity. It’s important to remain professional and clean, but by using muted versions of more creative colors this site stands out from its competitors.
